Programs
What we do, and how
BTSF conducts direct charitable programs and makes grants. Everything we do is aimed at the same outcome: more young people playing organized sport, especially those with disabilities and those whom cost, distance or circumstance has kept out — locally in Georgia, across the USA, and internationally.
Six areas of work
Inclusive and adaptive programming
Youth leagues, clinics and camps that welcome players of every ability — with buddies, adapted rules and equipment, and coaches trained for inclusion.
Coach, referee and volunteer training
Courses and certifications in inclusive coaching, safeguarding and officiating, so that programs are run by people who are prepared.
Equipment and facility access
Adaptive goals, balls and kit; storage; and help securing field time where facilities are the constraint.
Access-to-play support
Fee waivers and participation assistance for players whose families cannot afford registration, uniforms or transport — always administered by the partner program under its own criteria, never paid to individuals by BTSF.
Leadership, health and wellness education
Workshops for young players and volunteers on leadership, wellbeing, nutrition and safe sport.
Grants to partners
Project grants to qualified nonprofit, school, club and community partners that advance BTSF's purposes, governed by short written agreements with reporting.
How we choose partners
- Mission fit: the project expands access for underserved young people or people with disabilities.
- Safeguarding: the partner protects the children and vulnerable adults in its care and accepts our youth-protection standards.
- Capacity: the partner can deliver the project and report on how funds were used.
- Value: the support makes a concrete difference and is used efficiently.
- Independence: no BTSF director, officer, founder or family member benefits from the grant.
Every grant is documented in a written agreement that describes the project, the budget, the timeline and the report we expect at the end. International grants follow additional procedures, including sanctions screening and verification of how funds are used.
